The Ruler series are based on the Ruler Rounded metrics, a font that initially was created as an experiment, to see how a side-effect would act on a geometric font structure.
Despite the fact that the rounded shapes are added to basic characters, they actually simplify the overall shape and keep the letters to their essential construction. Because of this, the development of the font brings a lot to the creation of identities, when details are removed to preserve the essential form, a process very similar to the creation of bitmap fonts.
Accents also have been exaggerated to support the optimistic look and the monoline design.
The result is a simple, cursive, almost naive font, a font that in small quantities can add a lot of “sugar” to any text.
